Knicks and Nets continue to battle through ads

Mikhail Prokhorov is one of the coolest owners in the NBA.  Not only because he spends upwards of $5,000 on breakfast or is constantly surrounded by beautiful woman, but he also isn't afraid to take shots at other teams. Even ones that are only 30 minutes away.

Recently the Knicks released a radio ad slamming the Nets for their alleged desire to be like New York. "Hey Nets. You can walk like us, you can talk like us, but you ain't never gonna be like us." As if the people of New Jersey didn't have enough of a complex, now they're getting called out on the radio.

Mikhail Prokhorov
Prokhorov didn't just sit back and let the Knicks take blows at his team.  He came out with his own statement. "I don't think we want to be like the Knicks. I think we'd more like to resemble the Lakers." Boom. Get it? Because the Lakers are good and the Knicks...well the Knicks are the Knicks.

These two teams haven't exactly been playing elite basketball lately. The Nets are 6-11 and the Knicks are 9-9. Both are young teams in the midst of rebuilding, which makes any talk of "cross town rivals" seem a  bit extreme.  However, over the next few years as these two franchises grow and gain momentum, it will be an interesting battle to watch.

Rumors: Stephon Marbury back in the USA.

So...hide your Vaselin, turn on Ustream and prepare for the crazy...or just the off centered. Stephon Marbury is headed back to the U.S. of A.
Stephon Marbury

The demands Marbury made to his Chinese team were a little too much for them. Read:

“Marbury never signed a contract,” said Zhang to Xinhua reporter, Ma Lin. “So there was no breach of contract, nor was there any treachery.” According to the report, Marbury and Shanxi agreed upon a general contract structure and put in a clause that would allow the two sides to cooperate with each other in marketing and branding the two time All-Star’s “Starbury” shoe line.

However, when Marbury returned to the States, he sent back another contract filled with other clauses, including one stipulating that the team must re-sign Maurice Taylor, who played with Marbury on Shanxi last year, for another year. Adding to that, Marbury also requested that the two be put up in a five-star hotel in Taiyuan, as well as an apartment complete with a private chef and maids, all at the team’s expense. The two sides met up again in Las Vegas in October while the team was training, but were unable to come to an agreement.

Dallas Owner Mark Cuban Tried To Recruit LeBron Via Text

Yeah, that's the way to talk down to his level. Text him!

Here's the story from NBA.com.
When LeBron James was the coveted free agent last summer, he got a few text messages from Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban before making his decision to go to Miami.

Before the Heat played in Dallas for the only time this season, James described Cuban as "a very sly guy" Saturday night.

"He wants to win, he wants best for his team," said James, who along with Dallas-born Chris Bosh joined Dwyane Wade in Miami.

Cuban said his texts to James and the player's business manager Maverick Carter had a simple message.

"When he was making his decision, what I told him, and I told Maverick, was that no team had ever blown up a team of all their core, then added a couple of free agents and won," Cuban said. "It's always taken someone to come into a good team to make it better and put them over the top. That's what I told him."

Sure he's sly. That's why we like him.

Hornets To Rock Mardi Gra Alternate Uniforms

With all of the logo and uniform modifications this season it somehow only seems fitting that the New Orleans Hornets get in on the act. Especially when you consider the Utah Jazz kinda went back to their old Jazz uniforms that came on the scene first in New Orleans.

Key reserve Willie Green introduces the Mardi Gra uniforms of the New Orleans Hornets. The new threads will make their debut next month.

That Creole Blue fits well with the gold and the NOLA is hot on the front. What do you think are these the best Mardi Gra threads for the Hornets to date?

Date In NBA History: Reggie Goes Off

Reggie Miller had numerous highlights throughout his NBA career including the 57 point scoring outburst he had on November 28th 1992 in 134-122 road win against the Charlotte Hornets. The Hornets were led by Zo, LJ, Muggsy and Dell Curry at that time.

"The (original) Hive" was all Reggie's as he was 16-29 from the field, 4-11 from downtown and a solid 21-23 from the line while dishing out 8 dimes, in 38 minutes.

During the game Reggie told the Hornets he was going for 50 and you know Reggie loves a little trash talk.

UPDATE: Law and Order: Grizzlies Hamed Haddadi

This isn't another Tiger Woods situation ya'll...but it did go down on Thanksgiving.

Police were called to the apartment of Hamed Haddadi of the Grizzlies on Thursday morning after a fight between he and his girlfriend broke out. Haddadi and his girl were arrested for domestic assault.

Campaign to keep LBJ out of All Star Game

Here's the latest anti-LBJ website: http://www.keeplebronout.com/.

LeBron in thought
You can like it on Facebook. They follow his tweets. It's a serious campaign!
Their goal is to keep Lebron out of the NBA All-Star game.

Here is their mission statement:

It’s simple: if you hate LeBron James as much as we do, fill out the all-star ballot on NBA.com, and pick anyone but LeBron to start at forward for the Eastern Conference. Remember, there’s no limit on voting: the more votes other players get, the better chance we’ll keep his ego in check, and Keep LeBron Out.
Woah there Nelly!

Tweet: Shaq is like Fresh Bed Sheets

Sometimes you just don't know where Kevin Garnett’s head is at.

K.G.
 And sometimes you do.

on the Twitter account @KGtrashtalk.
he expresses his latest thoughts on teammate Shaquille O'Neal:

“Shaq is like paradise, man,” he said. “You ever wash your sheets and then go outside and hang them out, and the sun dries them? You ever smell the sheets?
That’s what Shaq is, Shaq is like...I don’t want to give any products any tags right now, but you know what I’m saying. For anybody who’s ever hung out clothes, they know what I mean.”
Uhhhh...

News: No Anti-LeBron Ish at the Cavs Game

Just so you know...they will be having none of this:

anti-LeBron

ESPN reports:
The Cleveland Cavaliers have banned fans from wearing anti-LeBron apparel to the game at Quicken Loans Arena versus the Heat on December 2nd, and the team has added dozens of police officers to help provide a secure environment.

Many officers will be positioned next to Miami's bench and by the tunnel where the players enter and exit the court.

The anger in Cleveland is intense since LeBron James announced on live television that he was leaving the Cavs to sign a free-agent contract with the Heat.

The Cavs are concerned about the image that the city and team might convey to a national audience during the game, as well as being genuinely concerned about safety issues.

"Honestly, I'm a little bit afraid," one member of the Cavs organization told ESPN. "Some people don't care. Their mentality is 'I've got to get this off my chest.' There's so much negative energy around this game. People aren't excited about the game itself. They're just like, 'I can't wait to do something.'"

Inappropriate signs will also be confiscated by team staff members.

Woah there Nelly!

Video: Cartoon stepping on mini LeBrons

...it was all a dream.

Seth MacFarlane (creator of the Family Guy and the Clevelands) was recently hired by Nike to create a short ad for LeBron James' new shoe, the Nike LeBron 8. It is a crazy video: an anthropomorphic, mute sneaker straps two miniature LeBron Jameses to his feet and starts walking around. Then it turns out it was all a dream, except the giant anthropomorphic sneaker is in LeBron's room!

Add Seth to the list.

The Art Of A Throwdown...By Blake Griffin

All you can think of is all the field trips to the art museum that were not so fun. Had more paintings and murals been like these that would be a great field trip.

Can you image Vince on Mourning and Weiss, how about Jordan baseline on the Knicks.

Good to see Blake Griffin was able to accelerate the rate of his posters going up in rooms across the world.

Poor Timofey Mozgov, at least he found a spot where he could hide his face.

Well...that's what he said.
Ron Artest's football  moves

CBSSports.com reports that he said:
It's a fantasy of mine. It's an opportunity because I'm athletic. So if that fantasy can be fulfilled, and if it's something that can really be reached as far as a goal, I'm going for it.
 He continued:
God willing, after my NBA career, God willing I'm still athletic enough -- which I'm trying to take care of my body as best as possible and be prepared for this day, for this tryout of an NFL team," Artest said. "... It's a fantasy of mine. It's an opportunity because I'm athletic. So if that fantasy can be fulfilled, and if it's something that can really be reached as far as a goal, I'm going for it.

Pistons new No. 1 fan might be Ndamukong Suh

Apparently Ndamukong Suh can't get enough losing.

The Detroit Lions rookie defensive tackle has become the Pistons' version of Jack Nicholson this season. Suh has been at nearly every Pistons home game this season, sitting in the courtside leather seats are place between the bench and the scorers table.

Suh's seats are on the visitor's end. In a Piston loss to the Lakers next week, Suh was seen chatting with Kobe Bryant during a period of garbage time.

For those interested in spotting Suh, he's not hard to miss. the 300-pounder is often wearing his Detroit Tigers hat.

Dwyane Wade models for Esquire magazine

Dwayne Wade
If you take one look at his spread in Esquire magazine it won't surprise you that Dwyane Wade keeps his credit card on file at Gucci.  In the December issue of Esquire magazine Wade talks about everything from what it's like to play under harsh media scrutiny to the way he likes his pants to fit.

What he doesn't talk about is the fact that after an overly-hyped off season, the Miami Heat haven't gotten off to the start that many people were predicting.  Last night the Heat lost to the Indiana Pacers 93-77.  Wade's game hasn't looked good for most of the season thanks to a sprained wrist and his teammates haven't been able to create much of an offense in his absence.

Hey, at least he looks good while walking to the team bus with his head down in shame.

Dwyane Wade: Of the holy trinity, which one is he?

News: Matt Lauer Talks to the Decision Maker

Well, here comes another moment in time where a network sets a hour aside to hear what LeBron James has to say.
LeBron

Matt Lauer

Matt Lauer is hosting a NBC Thanksgiving special about the most interesting people in our nation and Lebron made the list. Here is a portion of that interview:
LAUER: …And the decision not to tell the Cleveland Cavaliers before you made the public decision?
LEBRON: I think maybe that coulda been handled a little bit different //I never regret anything I do //but when you look back on things, you could say “Well, maybe you change this or change that.”
***
RE: The messaging in his new Nike commercial:
LAUER: Should I be who YOU want me to be? That’s the message here. I mean when it comes right down to it, that’s the question you’re asking people. And the answer you’re giving is “No.”
LEBRON: You can’t live your life on someone else’s path. Just can’t do it. You never accomplish what you wanna accomplish in life.
LAUER: The other line in there that jumps out at me LeBron is “Should I believe that I’ve ruined my legacy?” Do you think you’ve damaged your legacy at all?
LeBron: Well, that’s pending. I got a lot of time.

Will you watch?
