Video: Fan Makes a Song about World Peace's Elbow

Stephanie says, "change your name back to Artest."
This fan, Stephanie K, created her own "one-minute song" about the elbow Metta World Peace delivered to James Hardin.

Not a bad job. The vocals could have been a little better, but she did a good job getting the point across.

Ron Artest comedy hour

Ron Artest has shown us that he is way more than a basketball player. Remember his recent performance as a rapper on the George Lopez Show?

Ron Artest the renaissance man.
Anyway, the cat is diverse, and he announced his plans for the summer recently on twitter.

Ron Ron's comedy show
“Ron Artest: The Ultimate Comedy Tour” has two stops planned as of now, a two-night booking at Caroline’s in NYC followed by two more nights at the Brea Improv outside of L.A. There is no information at this time about which comedians will be performing, or more importantly, if Artest himself will be taking the stage to try out some jokes. *Maybe he thinks if crazy Charlie Sheen can do it, so can crazy Ron? What do you think?

Citizenship Award Nominees Include Ron Artest

Ron Artest is getting some press for in a positive manner recently. He donated his championship ring to charity, he's raising awareness for mental health and he's rapping. Well the latter is what he does to have fun but he's been serious about his efforts this season and others are taking notice. Still this is an honor that Artest has to be proud of even if he doesn't win it. We still think he's crazy but hey who doesn't have a lil' crazy in them?

Artest was nominated along with...

Marcus Camby...

Dwight Howard...

and Kyle Krover...

...for the 2011 J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award. Really would you have ever though Artest would be up for this award in his career, especially after that December day in 2004 when all hell broke out at the Palace in Auburn Hills, MI which was later dubbed "The Malice in the Palace".

Way to go Ron, next thing you know he'll be up for the Joe Dumars Sportsmanship Award and that will bring the irony full circle.

Artest Speaks...With Sense Even If It Doesn't Make Any To You, It Does To Him

Well All Star weekend is behind us as the NBA schedule picks back up but we just keep getting stuff in from the weekend that we can't turn our backs to.

Ron Artest (yes just stay with us on this one) released his Mix tape over the weekend with very little fanfare but with much respect from the music industry.

Tonya Raymond of BallerStatus.com went in-depth with Ron Ron and actually came away with some sense of all the Ron Ron chatter...or lack of. On the topic of music Artest shared...

I've been speaking to a lot of these guys for a lot of years. When I first got in the music industry, people were kind of saying they don't know if basketball players are serious, and that was a bit disturbing. The biggest thing I did was the "Champion" song and then a lot of people were saying "Yo, that's a dope song". Nas told me he liked it and then The Game called my cell phone and was like "Yo Ron, that's a dope song. I didn't know you could deliver and had swag like that." I was totally shocked. I think a lot of people heard "Champion" -- it gives us a chance to do records with real artists and be a part of the industry.

I did a couple things with Fat Joe -- you got to build a lot of friends in the industry 'cause when you first get in it, there's a lot of sharks, mainly the people that's doing the business. In the music industry, you don't need a college degree, you don't know who the sharks are. I've been taken to deep waters and I've learned a lot in the music business, so I'm actually pretty good at the business now and becoming a better artist.

Hey you gotta give Artest cred he's at least doing his homework and studying. Now Ron is also in the shoe business. He claims the shoes are like Lambos...

Ball'n is my company -- me, Rodney, and another company called Mercury. Three owners. The shoe is not that expensive and it has something called D3o in it, when you have impact it absorbs more impact -- D30's in Lamborghini's. And actually no shoe has it, so my shoe is like a Lamborghini for $50.

Well aight then Ron and Lambo for 50 beans sounds good to me but I know better, that's half a tank for that whip but for the footwear, anythings worth a shot.

Video: Ron Artest Loves Lamar and Khole's "Unbreakable"

Ron Artest really likes the new fragrance "Unbreakable' from Lamar Odom and Khole Kardashian. He likes it so much that after the tail whipping the Lakers took to Charlotte last night he was more bent about talking about it and sharing it with the Lakers reporter than fielding the question about their performance.

Ron Artest Announced the Winner of his Championship Ring Auction

Ron Artest has absolutely no regrets about giving away his Los Angeles Lakers championship ring to boost mental health awareness. In fact, it just encourages him to go out and get another ring.

Artest announced the winner of the charity raffle for his ring late Saturday night at a club across the street from Staples Center, where the Lakers were trounced by the Miami Heat 96-80 in the NBA's Christmas showcase.

The ring was won by Raymond Mikkael, a father of four from Hawthorne, CA.

"It's a good feeling, because it got a lot of publicity, and that's cool," Artest said before taking on LeBron James. "I'm glad we can start over now and do some more work with charities."
Artest came up with the idea to give away his first NBA title ring after putting a spotlight on mental health by thanking his psychiatrist after Game 7 of the Lakers' triumph over Boston last June. While some laughed at another stunt by one of the NBA's biggest characters, Artest's candid declaration sparked an interest in normalizing mental health care, which snowballed into this unique charitable gift.

Ron Artest will Donate his Salary next year

Mememememememe!
I want some!
Ron Artest looking subdued.

Artest said he might donate his entire salary next year for a good cause.
Before he even gives away his 2010 championship ring in an online raffle to raise funds and increase awareness of mental-health issues in schools, the Lakers small forward is already focusing on another unprecedented donation that would mean millions of dollars and immeasurable attention to the same important cause.
He told NBA.com he is seriously thinking about handing over at least half, and maybe all, of next season’s $6.79 million salary.
“I’m definitely considering the whole thing,” Artest said. “Or maybe 60 percent.”
Although he may not finalize details until the summer, he called the plan “very serious. I’ve talked to my wife about it already. It’s a powerful message. The message is about the inspiration. That’s what I want, to inspire people. People will be like, ‘Wow. Why is he doing this? Oh, that’s why. Wow. We need to help educate.’ I didn’t come [to the Lakers] for the money. Obviously I could have gone somewhere else, even a lesser market. Pay less taxes. The taxes here are freaking killing me, you know what I’m saying?”

WE LOVE RON RON and his convoluted schemes.

Remember when he played with the Bulls and during the offseason he wanted to apply for a job at Best Buy?
They asked him why would a NBA player want to work at Best Buy? And his answer:
“I heard they get a 50% discount.”

Ron Artest's NFL Future

Well...that's what he said.
Ron Artest's football  moves

CBSSports.com reports that he said:
It's a fantasy of mine. It's an opportunity because I'm athletic. So if that fantasy can be fulfilled, and if it's something that can really be reached as far as a goal, I'm going for it.
 He continued:
God willing, after my NBA career, God willing I'm still athletic enough -- which I'm trying to take care of my body as best as possible and be prepared for this day, for this tryout of an NFL team," Artest said. "... It's a fantasy of mine. It's an opportunity because I'm athletic. So if that fantasy can be fulfilled, and if it's something that can really be reached as far as a goal, I'm going for it.
We love him. We just love him!

Off Season: Ron Artest's Sports Car

Ron Artest's ride

TMZ reports:
Ron Artest was pulled over in LA yesterday not for speeding or running a red light, but for driving something called an Eagle Roadster.
The Lakers forward was cited because the registration on the 'car' had expired. The roadster wasn't even registered in Ron's name. Sources say Artest seemed pleasant throughout the ordeal and the cops were happy he was wearing a helmet.

Off Season: Ron Artest Will Speak to Children About Mental Health

Ron Ron

This one is almost too good to be real.

Ron Artest is one of the most loveable players in the league. But he always throws people off every few months or so...he likes to keep us on our toes. We know he's just messing with us.
The last one was when he had everyone talking after the championship game when he gave his psychiatrist a shoutout in his amazing post game speech. The latest is the community work he'll be doing in Montebello, CA, next week. From Daniel Tedford of the San Gabriel Valley Tribune:
OK, maybe you need like a time and place, oh and the reason world champion Los Angeles Laker and game 7 hero Ron Artest is going to be in Montebello tomorrow.
Apparently, he has teamed up with Congresswoman Grace Napolitano (no, really, I'm serious) to raise awareness about mental health stigma's and advocate for the Mental Health in Schools Act, a.k.a. HR 2531.
That's right — Ron Artest is going to be speaking to kids in school about mental health. Oh yeah!
