Knicks and Nets continue to battle through ads

Mikhail Prokhorov is one of the coolest owners in the NBA.  Not only because he spends upwards of $5,000 on breakfast or is constantly surrounded by beautiful woman, but he also isn't afraid to take shots at other teams. Even ones that are only 30 minutes away.

Recently the Knicks released a radio ad slamming the Nets for their alleged desire to be like New York. "Hey Nets. You can walk like us, you can talk like us, but you ain't never gonna be like us." As if the people of New Jersey didn't have enough of a complex, now they're getting called out on the radio.

Prokhorov didn't just sit back and let the Knicks take blows at his team.  He came out with his own statement. "I don't think we want to be like the Knicks. I think we'd more like to resemble the Lakers." Boom. Get it? Because the Lakers are good and the Knicks...well the Knicks are the Knicks.

These two teams haven't exactly been playing elite basketball lately. The Nets are 6-11 and the Knicks are 9-9. Both are young teams in the midst of rebuilding, which makes any talk of "cross town rivals" seem a  bit extreme.  However, over the next few years as these two franchises grow and gain momentum, it will be an interesting battle to watch.
