Report: Phil Jackson officially squashes all Jordan to Bryant comparisons
Yesterday when it came again,...you know the Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant comparison...and "you know coach...you dealt with both of them..."
Lakers head coach Phil Jackson, finally had enough. He said:
*Debate over. The Zen Master has spoken.

“We have to take Michael Jordan out of the equation. Stop comparing anyone to Michael Jordan. It’s just not fair. He was remarkable. Kobe’s in his own sphere. He doesn’t shoot the same percentage [.455] as Michael [.497]. He has the same characteristics as Michael, but he’s not the same player. It takes nothing away from him — he’s a great player in his own right.”

Vintage Pic: Phil Jackson

In some kind of way doesn't Phil look EXACTLY the same? Of course there is there is no gray hair and less weight but all in all looks just like him. Too bad Clyde beat him to the "Just For Men" endorsement. We still can't get over the shorts though in those days, how did they move in those things? Big ups to mollylambert for finding this one!

Quote Of The Week: Phil Jackson
We shared with you Mark Cuban's comments on the Kings and Hornets trade at the deadline this week. Well now Lakers head coach Phil Jackson has weighed in and actually concurs with Cuban. Phil is why you must love the NBA he's going to get his point across and speak what's on his mind and he did just that again for our quote of the week.Jackson told the LA Times...
"I want to know who is making that trade and how they can take on that salary when everybody else in the league — I mean this is the owners — [has] to take on this extra salary," said Jackson, and he wasn't done. "Those are things that seem to be manipulations that I'm not quite comfortable with.
Phil wasn't going to leave it at that...
"Where's the consensus? If New Orleans happens to win the championship, does everybody get a trophy in the NBA?"

Add Lebron To the "No Games On Christmas" List
First it was coaching legend Phil Jackson and now Lebron James has spoken on Christmas Day games and well, he doesn't like them either.
Lebron was quoted "If you ask any player in the league, we'd rather be home with our families," James said. "I think the people that even set the games up would rather be home with their family during this day. It's not just a regular holiday. It's definitely one of those days that you wish you could wake up in the morning with the kids and open up presents."
Well now how would Christmas be WITHOUT NBA games? We'd die here at Frontpage without games on Christmas. It's just the way it is and we hope that the league continues to play on Christmas Day. Now maybe not five games but at least two. A good East coast tilt and a good West coast tilt. Heck the arena is still gonna fill up and the ratings are still going to be there. Heck if the arenas were empty and the ratings were down then maybe there would be a chance of no games.
The news came down today that ratings so far this season are up almost 30% on both of the major cable networks that carry the NBA so it's safe to say the ratings will be up and as long as they are on Christmas day, games will be played, attended and watched. To some going to an NBA game on Christmas maybe the best present, were just saying.
So how do you feel about Christmas Day Games in the NBA?

Photo story: Reflect on Kobe Reflecting
Just to get you amped for the G.O.A.T. going for THREE IN A ROW championship journey, here's a picture of Kobe Bean Bryant from the new Andrew Bernstein/Phil Jackson book Journey to the Ring:

Phil Jackson’s caption: “Ritual before the game … Kobe sits with his feet in ice water. You can see he has a small cup with ice for his finger. This is not Rodin’s Thinker, but he’s thinking … Thinking about the game, or his opponent and how to measure up to the challenge. Last year he put 61 points on the Knicks. They will be ready to play a different defense on this night and maybe try to double-team him.” (Jan, 22, 2010, in New York City)
