The Verdict On Samuel L. Jackson's Game Intros

Samuel L. Jackson handled the PA assignments of introducing the staring lineups in New Orleans for the Hornets and Clippers tilt which also featured the return of Chris Paul.

All in all we expected better but you can judge for yourself.




Aside from his intro of Chris Paul, which wasn't all that stunning and his Pulp Fiction reference before introducing the Hornets there really isn't anything that made you laugh or get excited that Samuel Jackson was introducing starting lineups at an NBA game.

The irony is how the Hornets did go on to win the contest and spoil CP3's return to the Big Easy after Jackson really stood up for the Hornets saying "...you will know their name is the Hornets when they lay their vengeance upon you".

Well the Clippers felt that vengeance for sure in what was a physical contest from the opening tip.

Hornets PA Announcer: Samuel L Jackson Set To Introduce Starting Lineups

Samuel L. Jackson has been seen at many New Orleans Hornet's homes games this season while he's been in town shooting the movie "Django Unchained". The actor will take to the public address system when the Los Angeles Clippers visit the Hornets Thursday Night and will introduce the starting lineups for each team.



The star power will also be in full effect as this will mark the first time former Hornet Chris Paul will lace them up in the Hive for the opposing team.



Will Ferrell handled starting introductions earlier this season at a Hornets games while he was in town filming a movie. Ferrell was around the arena so much he was routinely seen running pick up games or shooting around hours before the games. Ferrell's introductions were a part of "80's night at The Hive". In case you missed those introductions...here they are...



For Kids night the Hornets have also allowed kids from local schools to introduce the starting lineups.

At least the Hornets are keeping it interesting during what has been a dreadful season since Chris Paul and David West moved on. West made his return to New Orleans a few weeks ago and received a warm reception and video tribute, we can expect the same if not more will be done for Chris Paul who gave everything to that city during the first six years of his career.

Video: Clippers Have Fun On Plane

The mode is a lot lighter these days for the boys in the red and blue in the City of Angeles. Their winning, they are setting the standards for highlight reels and lobs and they are finding time to clown each other crazy on the team flights.

The Clippers Have Spoken, "Clipper Darrell' No More

Just when you though the Los Angeles Clippers had everything in their noodle in order they lose it again. In a season that is featuring the best Clippers team since "World B. Free" or close to that, the front office still finds a way to bump their head. Clipper Darrell the noted longtime loyal fan of the Clippers has been asked to drop his nickname. It's not like Darrell Bailey professed himself to be Clipper Darrell because nicknames are given and stick-good ones anyway and that is exactly how he became known as Clipper Darrell..

Carl Lahr senior vice president of marketing and sales, eventually returned Bailey’s call last week and informed him that the organization didn’t need him doing stories or speaking to the media on behalf of the team.

“We got to talking and I said the way I feel, you don’t want Clipper Darrell no more. You want Darrell Bailey back. They said, ‘You would do that?’”

According to Bailey, the Clippers offered him an additional free season ticket if he dropped the Clipper nickname.

“That’s when everything went haywire and they said I was trying to make money off sponsorships,” Bailey added. “If people are going to pay me to do some things, why not do it? I don’t see any harm in it as long as I’m not hurting the brand itself. I’m going to high schools, charity events, I do it all. They told me at the end of the conversation that, ‘We would like you not to be Clipper Darrell anymore and would like you to go back to Darrell Bailey.’”

Now could the Clippers be right? Could Clipper Darrell have been a loyal fan for so long to cash in once the team became respectable on the hardwood? If you saw anything of the Clipper since San Diego you'd really find that hard to believe. Either way not a good message to send to the fans. On the business side you can understand but in a year where every team should be doing their utmost to keep the fans and bring back those that were ill about the lockout it's not good. And really does it matter because he's known as Clipper Darrell, anyway and probably always will be. I'm thinking maybe he should pull a Metta World Peace, then it would not be a nickname issue.



Plus if your driving this around town everyday then you deserve to be called Clipper Anything and oh that suit also.

Bailey also said...

“Am I going to go back as Clipper Darrell? I can’t. It’s kind of hard to get back into a groove again. Honestly, it tells me they really didn’t care about me from the jump. They just used me for their advertisement and that’s the hurtful situation.”

Why not bring him on the payroll then? Bailey donned an all black suit at the Clippers home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. You kind of get the feeling it's going to be a long rest of the season for Bailey and now the question will be does he renew for next season or show up at Staples with a purple and gold suit on, how ironic would that be. Well they say it's a Lakers town anyway.
