D.Wade Writes a Book on Fatherhood

Wednesday, William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, announced plans to release Dwyane Wade's book, "A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger than Basketball" in Septmber. Wade's book covers some of his childhood struggles in Chicago and how he uses those lessons when raising his boys.

"For me, it was therapeutic to do this," Wade told The Associated Press.

After finally winning a long custody battle with his ex-wife a year ago, Wade felt like his story of basketball and fatherhood could show others a different side of him and help them with their own families. 


"I don't have to share it with people," Wade said. "But I felt there was a need. So many people came up to me in this process, so many fathers, so many men came up to me to congratulate me and to ask me how, how I did it and why I believed I could do it."

Wade spent most of this past offseason working on his book. Pulling from his younger years as well as his most recent. He has included some stories in his book that even people closest to him have no clue about.


 "We are thrilled and honored to publish Dwyane's book," Henry Ferris, a vice president and executive editor at William Morrow, said in a statement. "He has an extremely important story and message about the role of fathers in children's lives. And his career in the NBA is also a phenomenal and exciting story."

Wade was honored by the National Fatherhood Initiative last year for his dedication to his sons as a single father while still successfully managing his NBA career. During All-Star weekend in Orlando, Wade headlined a roundtable discussion for President Obama's Fatherhood and Mentoring Initiative.


While a book may seem like a new thing for Wade, he has actually had a fascination with writing for years, stretching back to high school where he considered a career in journalism. He was also a sports writer for his school paper. During his days at Marquette he wrote an ode to basketball which was later turned into an advertising campaign.


"I think the biggest thing when I set out to write a book was just to share my experiences, from when I was a kid, my upbringing, my struggles, my joyous times, to becoming a father," Wade said. "I'm trying to compare them, how they've been the same in a sense, even though my worlds are totally different. But we're still dealing with the same things. From rags to riches, it really doesn't matter."


Since Wade's book is not set to release until September, the details aren't being disclosed, but there were some painful memories involved in the writing process.


"People will get a better understanding of me as a person," Wade said. "Even people who might think they know all there is, there's things you can learn about me that you don't know. People know that in 2008 I had one of my best seasons, averaged 30 points a game, had some of my best games. But they don't know what I had to deal with before tip-off or right after the game. It's not focused on basketball, but it all wraps together and tells a story."

Dwyane Wade Sr. is Removed from the United Center

During Wednesday's competition in Chicago, Dwyane Wade Sr. was removed from the United Center.

An arena source says that Wade Sr. was seating in the 100 level and would not stop cursing, even after he was asked by arena personnel.

According to the website, the United Center "intends to provide all guests with a safe, comfortable, and friendly environment. Our family atmosphere prohibits foul or abusive language, and any violation of these policies may result in ejection."

It was said to be a joke and it is quite funny. The funniest part is the size of the bags.

D. Wade has a big purse and James has this tiny purse you could barely fit an iPhone in. I must say that James is matching very well though. Wade is dressed in true Miami fashion with the white pants.

Well, a local car dealership decided to give the hoop star a  McLaren MP4-12C. If you're like me, you don't know what that is so here's a picture to show you. 


This "gift" is valued at nearly a quarter of a million dollars. Only the rich and famous get free stuff that they can actually afford.


A gift this large and extravagant couldn't have come in through the front door obviously. The dealership had to bring this car in by crane.

Yesterday Dwyane Wade turned 30 years old. Two days ago, he had a huge celebration at the Setai Hotel on Miami beach.

His big event was hosted by his lovely lady, Gabrielle Union, and his sister Arlesha.

Since it was D.Wade's big day you already know that teammates Chris Bosh and LeBron James were in the building, but that's not it.

"Reggie Will You Get Off Me Now"...More Like DWade Move!

It happens no matter where you play, somebody does something that is going to be talked about for days at that same gym and the surrounding areas. From a crowd of neighbors to arena packed the brim and more eyes on a basketball game the past eight years.... everybody saw it.

So umm yeah, after watching this 99, 100, 101...150, 200 and counting times, we still get the same reaction. Some Heat fans quickly stated "it wasn't all that" type talk. Well today Zaire Wade even told dad, it was one of those kind of plays.




Watch the ballboys or the fan in the red shirt and jeans sitting courtside near the bench or how about the fan behind the basket in the black shirt and jeans, he's first out of his seat before the BOOM is completed, then pumps that fist because he knew he saw it coming. Now believe it or not there was a fan sitting right there and didn't even see it. Courtside seats, right to the left of the hoop, he never moves he never saw it, where does that happen at. Taj Gibson says he hasn't it seen either, however that was earlier by now I'm sure some real close family member tricked him in to watching it, some kind of way. Heck it's an outstanding basketball play, CJ Watson leading the 3-on-1 break, makes the defender commit and feeds Gibson whose filling the lane, trailing, whatever playing basketball, the defender is jumps and the rest it what everyone is talking about.

Funny thing is NO MATTER what happens the rest of the NBA Playoffs, "Gibson soaring over Wade" is forever locked in the memory bank.



Glad the defender didn't ask for the tapes back.

Dwyane Wade Wins...Custody of Kids

Over the weekend, Dwyane Wade was awarded custody over his two sons.

In a very public divorce, the last jab he had at his ex-wife was to get the children, after she made many public jabs at him as a father.

Lawyers confirmed the ruling Sunday.

Dwyane's ex-wife, Siohvaughn Wade’s lawyer said that they were notified of the judge’s decision late Friday.

"Unfortunately I think the court got it wrong and it’s not in the best interest of these children and fails to recognize that Siohvaughn Wade has been a wonderful mother and a provider for these children, educationally, emotionally and physically,"  said her lawyer, Michael A. Haber.

The two sons will live with Wade in Florida, who has been outspoken about the importance of this issue.

In court, Dwyane Wade’s lawyer, James Pritikin, accused Siohvaughn Wade of a pattern of erratic behavior.

 

Wade’s children arrived in Miami on Friday, and will remain with their father going forward. Wade’s Miami Heat teammates gave him an ovation when he revealed the news to them in the locker room Saturday, and the boys are expected to start at a new school in South Florida on Monday.

“My life changed in a huge way,” Wade said. “Mentally, I’ve been preparing for it for over a year now. To me, it’s bigger than that. For me, it shows a lot of people that you need to fight to be in your kids’ lives sometimes. You fight until you can’t fight any more. That’s all I was trying to be, a father in his kids’ lives.”

The boys’ mother, Siohvaughn Wade, will have what the court described as “regular parenting time” on alternating weekends in Miami, as well as several other times during the year, including Mother’s Day.

Coincidentally, one night after the ruling in a game against Memphis on Saturday, Wade played his best overall game of the year statistically.

Dwyane Wade's Movie Star Girlfriend Turns Nose Up at Reality Show

It's no secret that Dwyane Wade has been fraternizing with movie star Gabrielle Union. (Rumored to have started while he was married.)

And Dwyane Wade works in Miami.

Two popular reality shows, featuring NBA WAGS are filmed in Miami: VH1's "Basketball Wives" and "The Real Housewives of Miami".

So it seems that those two franchises would love to get their hands on one of the wives from the Heat.
Earlier this week we told you that the VH1 show went after Chris Bosh's ex.

And in a proactive statement Gabrielle Union affirmed that she is not interested:

“I pay my own bills, first off, so I’ve never put myself in a position to have to be jackass or to have to sell myself down the river for a reality show. I was just raised a little differently and my situation is a lot different being that I have my own career, my own celebrity status on my own, independent, and before him. But, I don’t knock anybody’s hustle, it’s just not my path.”

Anyone who attempts to discuss current events with Dwyane Wade will find it’s a one-way conversation. That’s because he intends to avoid anything the news media is saying until the jokes stop about Miami Heat players crying Sunday after a fourth consecutive defeat.


Wade told the South Florida Sun Sentinel he has turned off the television, including ESPN.

“The only thing I found out was Chris Paul got injured the other night and I reached out to my friend,” Wade said. “Besides that, I totally have not watched anything. I haven’t watched college basketball.”

“I’ve totally shut it down,” Wade said. “I don’t want to hear anything.

Hmm...I wonder if he'll read tweets and online stuff?
