New Yorkers Letter To Carmelo Anthony

Adena Andrews is fierce, confident (some would say cocky) and oh well she's all New York as most New Yorkers are. I've kicked it a time or two with Adena and she was still true to her New York ways, brought scout mob along as if I'd have an issue with using a discount/coupon at a local sports bar and eatery. Ok I digress.

With Mike D'Antoni stepping down after reportedly going to Knicks brass with the idea of trading Melo to the Jay-Z/Russian owned Nets was shot down, everything fell on Melo. Naturally right, he held Denver hostage until the very end and the Knicks brass gave up a lot to bring him home to Brooklyn, his birthplace and to a state where it's last major championship was won with Melo having much to do with that also.

Well in New York it's a lot different and they still care as Adena of ESPNW points out in her letter to Carmelo.

Oh wait something happen along the way. Some kid outta Harvard stole the show while Melo rested more than any players share of nagging injuries in a condensed NBA season. Upon his return it wasn't all good which led to the coach walking out. With that however another person looking for another chance to show he knew what he was doing entered the picture. Mike Woodson, who was shafted in Atlanta to put it lightly. In Atlanta is was the 'Iso Joe' offense, well in New York it may not be an All-'Iso Melo' offense but it'll be embraced along with the defensive principles that Woodson brings should make it all the better (Undefeated at 4-0 under Woodosn at the time of this post).

Winning it what New Yorkers love and yearn for since Willis Reed isn't hobbling through that door anytime soon, yet winning in New York and being from New York oh they'll eat that up. Let's just hope they eat it up with a championship ring and banner in the Carmelo Era and they may even name a pizza after him...

All In The Neighborhood

So the big business move made in the NBA involving Carmelo Anthony relocating to the Big Apple may have a trickle down effect on the real estate business.



According to TMZ LaLa Vasquez Anthony and Kim Kardashian are out house hunting in the Jersey area. Aren't you so surprised? Ha! Celebs hang with celebs so no surprise to us but to see how it may happen (since WAGS hold all the power) is well, fun.



Alpine, New Jersey is were this hunting has been taking place and it seems as though the Anthony's don't want their son in the Manhattan area. Kim K is keeping her left coast home for the offseason but being close to Kris next season is vital. Hey the WAGS like to get together and have fun also and not make a big deal about it.

* Bump groupies, Lala says she's used to them from his whole career. Plus, she believes he knows he has more respect for her after 8 years than to cheat.
* The story about Carmelo having an alleged love child is laughable. She wouldn't still be his wife if it were true.
* She's not doing "Basketball Wives." The show doesn't work for her.
* Her "Full Court Life" show debuts in August on VH1. She also just shot a film with Val Kilmer and is auditioning for several shows as this is "pilot season."
* When asked why she "allowed" Kim to record that mess of a record, she defended her girl. She said the record was for charity and Kim was having fun even though she's not known for singing. So she's happy she could do that and we should "cut her some slack." (SIIIIGHHHHH)
* She defended Ciara saying her album didn't do well because there was a lot of transitions behind the scenes with management and such. She believes her album was great and she's a great performer. Oh, and she said Ci's going to the game's with HER, not for Amar'e. (Mmmhmm)
* On Chris Brown hoopla: "Chris is definitely a friend of myself and Melo's. If we weren't there... If God can forgive, who are we? That man as been through a lot. He's paid his debt to society 10x over."
* She says she and Carmelo argue about Melo being a homebody and she wants to go out often.
* She's not a good cook, but Melo is.
* She doesn't have a live-in nanny or help--chick is even using Dreft laundry detergent for her baby as she does do her own laundry. Loves it.
* About not getting along with the Knick wives, she recently discovered the reason they haven't reached out to her is because there ARE no wives. But she's meeting more of the fiance's and girlfriends.
* She's addicted to shoes and works hard to buy what she wants.
* La says she doesn't want anymore kids. She had a tough pregnancy and she doesn't want to put her body through it again. Adoption in the future is an option though.
* Telling family "No" is hard now especially since she's back in NY with her family. They're always asking for tix to the games and it's extrememly difficult.

Carmelo Anthony Thanks Denver Fans

Melo's people started negotiating his contract all the way back to when LeBron made his "decision."
It just took a whole lot longer. And once LeBron was done, the spotlight moved to Denver to see his move.

When the spotlight moved, Carmelo assured who oever was listening that he wasn't going to do it the way LeBron did it.

And he didn't.

Even though you may have been annoyed by how long it took and all the stories about it, Melo didn't dis' Denver.

Carmelo Anthony wrote a letter expressing "gratitude" and "appreciation" to fans of the Nuggets nearly two weeks after he was traded to the Knicks.

He posted a note on his website last Thursday telling Nuggets fans "you will always be a part of my heart."

In a letter titled "A NOTE TO MY DENVER FANS," Anthony thanks the Nuggets faithful for "embracing" him.

"I had to let you know how I felt about you, the city, my fans, my friends," he wrote. "You've been supportive of me and my NBA career for the past 8 years and that doesn't go unnoticed.

"Drafted when I was 19 I called Denver and the Nuggets my home. The city and the fans embraced me and watched me grow as a man and a player.

"There are no words to express the gratitude and appreciation I have for Denver, the Nuggets and all the fans."

Carmello Anthony has arrived to suit up for the New York Knicks. He's accompanied by his wife LaLa Vasquez. The Knicks host the Milwaukee Bucks tonight to open the Melo Era.

Speaking with some faithful Knicks' fans, they are aware it's not going to happen overnight.

True indeed it may not but you can play your cards with them next year over Miami. Celtics are too much in 2011.

The All Star weekend is all about fun. Yes there were labor meetings and other such business but it's about having fun. Were big Craig Sager fans but this almost reminded us of Jim Gray and Pete Rose in 2000, hell bent to talk about it.

Carmelo Anthony says he won't do Denver like LeBron did Cleveland

Sports Illustrated reported that Carmelo made comments that although he does has a desire to leave the Nuggets, he would never do it the way LeBron James left Cleveland last summer.

"I would never go about it the way LeBron did it."

"If he could do it all over again, he wouldn't do it that way -- he would do it a totally different way, I can guarantee you that," Anthony added.

He's a little frustrated with the talks of his trade. But check this by Yahoo! Sports about folks blaming his wife, La La for wanting to move.

Anthony was in good spirits while answering media questions following his 28-point performance in a 132-98 blowout of the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. But once he was asked about the perception that his wife was calling the shots on his NBA career, his mood instantly changed.

“Y’all put this in bold words, La La has nothing to do with anything,” Anthony said.

“Whatever is my decision, she is going to support me. She has nothing to do with me staying or leaving. Nothing. So please keep her out of it. Thank you.

“People have to write about something and [they] come up with, ‘She don’t want to be here.’ She has nothing to do with that. This is my career. This is my decision. Of course, I got to consult her with everything. It wasn’t one conversation I had with her where she said, ‘Let’s get out of Denver.’ ”

“It’s normal, you got to consult with your family about decisions like that,” Anthony said.

News: Carmelo Anthony's Sister Michelle Dies In Baltimore

It's unfortunate to report that Carmelo Anthony's sister, Michelle Anthony, reportedly died Tuesday night in Baltimore where she was living.  She was the mother of four children and had a pre-existing medical condition that is unknown at this time.

Here's the statement from Carmelo's Nuggets team:

Denver Nuggets player Carmelo Anthony has left the team to be with his family after the death of his sister and is expected to return after Christmas.
The team said Wednesday night that Michelle Anthony died of a pre-existing medical condition Tuesday (Dec. 21) in Baltimore. She had four children.
Masai Ujiri, the Nuggets executive vice president of basketball operations, says, “Our entire organization supports Carmelo during this difficult time for him and his family. It is heartbreaking news, particularly during the holiday season.”
Nuggets head coach George Karl says the news “brings us down to earth,” and reminded his organization that there are more important things than basketball.
Anthony missed the Nuggets’ game in San Antonio. Denver’s next game is Christmas Day at Oklahoma City.

Another Cold Winter For Andrei

Andrei Kirilenko was mentioned in trade talks this past summer, particularly in the 4-team deal that would have sent Carmelo Anthony to the New Jersey Nets.

Since that mega trade didn't go through, Kirilenko talks have surprisingly subsided and all signs look to AK remaining a part of the team for the foreseeable future. "The way Andrei has played for us in the past and the way he played in the preseason, he's a real key to our team,"team GM Kevin O'Connor told The Salt Lake Tribune. "He really competes."

AK has looked solid in the first few games of the Jazz, particularly on Sunday with his defense against Kevin Durant. Maybe AK's stay in Utah will inspire his wife, Masha, to re-open her clothing store Fleur de Lis in downtown Salt Lake? This blogger hopes so.

acclaimed director and longtime Knicks fan Spike Lee is certain that Carmelo Anthony will play for his team in the near future.

"I have just one sentence for you," Lee told The New York Post on Saturday night. "Carmelo Anthony will be with the Knicks if God is willing and the creek don't rise."

Lee attended Anthony's wedding in July and The Post reported earlier this month that Anthony has told Lee the Knicks are far and away his top choice.
