Well, Derrick Rose really enjoys his Chi-town bond with the president:

“… I know that if I really want to get in contact with him, I can. It would be great to have a decent relationship with the President. Especially somebody that’s from here, and he’s a good guy.”

“It’s not like I’m going to harass him or anything because that’s not my character. But it would be cool to just hit up the President whenever you want to.”

It was reported that President Obama (a Bulls fan) was talking trash to Kobe.

"Derrick Rose may have your number," President Obama lightheartedly jabbed at Kobe Bryant as the team posed for a photograph after presenting the president with an autographed replica 2009-10 championship banner, like the one that hangs at Staples Center.
Without skipping a beat, Bryant made a similar transition from gracious guest at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington, where the Lakers participated in a series of community service projects, to a proud player protecting his spot at the top of the pecking order.
"I said, 'If he calls that number, I'll be sure to pick up after the fifth ring,'" Bryant quipped back -- referring, naturally, to the five championship rings he has.

Kevin Durant's Date with the President

According to a report buy the Oklahoman, Kevin Durant's agents, brothers Aaron and Eric Goodwin, made a connection with Reggie Love, Obama's special assistant and personal aide, to get Durant an exclusive invitation to shoot hoops with the president. And it worked! The visit occurred on Sept. 18, but Durant did not publicize the event.

"It was a good feeling to meet the president," Durant said, according to The Oklahoman. "Of course I always wanted to do that. Me being from D.C., it was pretty cool to see him. I was excited to get that opportunity. It's something I'm always going to remember." 


Durant didn't hog his face time with Obama for himself. He invited his mother and his grandmother and Thunder teammates Eric Maynor and James Harden.

"She's been in D.C. for 60 years and never got to meet the president," Durant said of bringing his grandmother to the White House, according to the report. "Now we have the first African-American president, and that felt good for me to give her that opportunity."
