Mavericks to Visit White House
The defending NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks will be making the traditional championship team trip to the White House to meet President Obama. The meeting is set for January 9th, right before the start of the Mavs' road trip to Detroit and Boston.
The meeting did not come without some controversy. Maverick's owner Mark Cuban was quoted as saying that the NBA was "the league office was stupid or dumb or worse" for not scheduling the Mavericks to play against the Wizards this season. Cuban felt that with the shortened season the NBA should have scheduled the game between the two teams so that the Mavs could take the trip to the White House. NBA spokesman Mike Bass has said that the NBA does not have to schedule the trip, but was glad that they were able to. Further details can be found in the attached source.

NBA All-Star Voting Gets Underway..Already?
Although it feels like the NBA season just started, mostly because it has, voting for the 2012 All-Star game in Orlando has already begun. The NBA and Sprint held a special event this afternoon in Orlando and officially announced the start of the voting process. The game will take place on February 26, 2012. Details of the event that took place in Orlando today and how to vote can be found in the source provided below.
I don't know about you guys, but this whole shortened season just seems to be rushing everything. I know that the All-Star game is a couple weeks later then what the usual one is, but teams are only 6, 7 at most, games into the season!
How do you guys feel about this? Let me hear your thoughts.

No Passport Means No Game for Samuels
The Cavaliers have a game in Toronto against the Raptors later tonight, but Samardo Samuels will not be joining them. The backup center will instead rejoin the team in Minnesota on Thursday.
Samuels had recently said on Twitter that he had lost his passport and was currently in the process of getting a new one.
Tough break for him and the Cavs? Give me your thoughts.

Let Them Eat Cake, Just Not That One
When it comes to LeBron James, everything has to be spectacular. When celebrating a 27th birthday and engagement, a mediocre cake just won't suffice.
In order to gain some publicity and a "sponsorship", Alethea Hickman agreed to make a cake, pro bono. However, the cake was not pleasing to "the royal court" and a different cake was used.
Hickman never gets her sponsorship and now she's looking for someone to pay her for all the revenue she lost.

KG Buys Stake in Roma
Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett has recently bought a small stake in the Italian soccer club Roma. Garnett received the offer from James Pallotta, who is one of the four Boston executives who signed a deal in August to become the first foreign majority owners of a Serie A club.
It is not a surprise that Garnett and Pallotta are working together, Pallotta is also a minority owner of the Celtics.
Garnett joins LeBron James in the European soccer world. James bought a small stake in Liverpool earlier this year.

Last week on TNT's Inside the NBA Shaq said that he would pay anybody $1,000 if they got a tattoo of Charles Barkley and Dick Bavetta kissing after their memorable foot race at All-Star weekend a few years back.
Emmet Bentley, who is a bartender in Santa Barbara, California is the man who got the tattoo.
Guess Shaq may be having to put his money were his mouth is, right?

During New Jersey's recent trip to Orlando, All-Stars Deron Williams and Dwight Howard had dinner together. Of course with all the trade speculation of Dwight ending up in New Jersey, this obviously started some rumors.

Mo Williams the New Chauncey Billups?
Who would have thought that Mo Williams would be an afterthought after the Los Angeles Clippers went on a shopping spree this past offseason. We won't even get into who they grabbed since the entire NBA fan base was all over it.
In case you forgot...Mo Williams was snagged from the Cleveland Cavaliers for Baron Davis and a few other players and picks, trying to rebuild for 2012 and beyond. While he was a big deal when he closed out the season with the Clippers, he has faded away a bit from the spotlight now that Blake Griffin, Chris Paul and co. have stolen the show. Mo is still a starter...but how unknown is he now? Well...watch this video during the starting lineups when the Clippers took on Chicago Friday:
Could it be that Mo is just as good as Chauncey? He has been out since Thursday night and Mo has been playing in place of him. Its OK Mo...you've always got a place in our hearts no matter what.
Current Player Former Player Beef...
So a little issue with what the "analyst" and the current player never hurt anyone. Well current has ring and"analyst" doesn't. You can split hairs on the topic all day. What Chris Webber did to define his spot in basketball history is solid, Perk's...well is still a work in progress. Perk has a ring and maybe without and injury would have two...now is that vital or not.Webb said Perk wasn't a fit for OKC, and we were with him during the emotional days of the trade. Now, it's a different story. Perk can be that "vet" that can lead the Thuder to a tile, maybe not this year but before his extension is done.
Perk went to Twitter with his comments to and for CWebb and you can't blame him but it's not like Webb doesn't have a ring because he's Doug West, hardly. He lost to Robert Horry and the Lakers who also had Shaq and Kobe, can't discount that. Talent respect talent so take that for what it's worth.

At the end of the day CWebb has more respect than a lot of other pine-riding, role-playing analyst. Not to discredit them but CWebbs contribution to the game of basketball CANNOT be overlooked. Yes that's correct Dennis Rodman will be the head coach of a basketball team, a women's team, a topless women's team that is. Leave it to Dennis to keep the odd stuff coming. We can feel the excitement building now.
Holding true to being a competitior Rodman would not be outdone by former NBAer Spud Webb. Webb will be running the topless women's team for Rick’s Cabaret which is a rival strip club to Headquarters Gentlemen’s Club.
