While one gets engaged...
Not so much Kobe Bryant though.
Yes it is old news that Kobe and Vanessa Bryant are planning to cut ties rather soon. For our Friday funnies, FunnyorDie.com makes light of the situation while Kobe Bryant held a press conference this week talking about the divorce and how much this is affecting him. One person though, might have a say on trying to stop this fiasco. Enjoy!

Chris Bosh |
There are no words for this. I just...I can't...oh dear God.
Dwayne Wade looks like the captain on a Carnival Cruise. Lebron James is trying to be tough in a mint green sweater. No one has or ever will look tough in mint green. And then there's Chris Bosh who looks like that uncle everyone has that doesn't know how to buy clothes that fit.
Oh and then there's a bunch of other random guys in flashy clothes starring intensely at the camera.
End scene.

Bob Williams makes the guest list for The Chat Room |
During his interview, Williams discussed his thoughts on the new NBA season and how the lockout impacted his players. He also mentioned several of the players and how they have improved and will play a crucial part on the team this season.
Of course Williams couldn't come to the interview alone. Williams brought two surprise guests with him, Atlanta Cheerleaders Crystal and Juliana.
To see the full interview you'll have to wait until this particular show airs in January.
Heat: All Of The Lights...For 2011-2012.

With all the attention elsewhere during the frantic post lockout off-season, the Miami Heat have not received as much talk as they did say 12 months ago. That may do them some favors but they still want us to know they are around. So to ensure that they released this video. Enjoy!
Well we love the song but now we really like it because the Heat did it right!

James dunks during 1st game of the season against Boston Celtics |
James spent time during his offseason dunking on and knocking over little kids. Knocking them over wasn't intentional, but it sure was funny to watch.
James and the Miami Heat hit the court again for the first time last night. James was back in full swing as the Heat defeated the Boston Celtics, 115-107.

Humphries Can't Catch a Break
Humphries has obviously been in the public eye over the past several months for his marriage to reality superstar Kim Kardashian. The marriage, which included the wedding be shown on television, lasted an entire 72 days before the two divorced. Clearly, Kris has rubbed the public the wrong way regardless of his play.
Tell me what you would do if you go to a Net game this year - boo or cheer for Kris Humphries?

Pound The Rock
As a coach, you always try to find that specific motto or quote that tries to get your team going. This is especially true when you have had a few years as the bottom cellar team. The Toronto Raptors haven't had very successful seasons, and with the loss of Chris Bosh last year, finishing 22-60. Dwayne Casey is now at the helm, and with a shortened season, he feels that this would be a great time to take over with such a young roster. So, to start, he has a 1300 pound boulder sitting right in front of the Raptors' locker room explaining that they need to “pound the rock”. A quote from the Associated Press:
A 1,300-pound boulder sits just inside the front door to the Toronto Raptors’ dressing room, a reminder of the mentality Dwane Casey is trying to instill in his new team.
Heading into what the Raptors coach is calling a “building” season, Casey has introduced a new motto: Pound the Rock.
“I knew we were going to be a work in progress, every time we walked on the floor we were going to have to have something to get us to think about … how we have to get better, we’ve got to work to get better,” Casey said this week. “It’s from a story about a stonecutter. Every time a stonecutter hits a rock it may not break. You may have to hit it 100 times but on that 101st time you hit it, now you crack the rock.”
It may seem crazy, but the Spurs and Greg Popovich have the exact same motto and type of rock sitting in their locker room. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers also had the same approach when Jon Gruden was head coach in 2002, and ironically enough, it landed them a Super Bowl trophy. If this $500 piece of stone is the tool that sends the Raptors to bigger and better things, this could be a fad that could possibly sweep the entire nation.
Life is Good for MVP D. Rose

One week after signing a $94 Million contract extension with the Chicago Bulls, Derrick Rose is on the verge of signing the highest paid sneaker contract in the NBA with Adidas.
Can't we all agree that Rose is on quite a run since winning the MVP back in May?

Classic Jordans Released...Folks Go Wild

The following season he rocked them enroute to leading the Bulls to an NBA-record 72 wins. So put all of that with the sleek design of the shoe and release it oh what 14 years later and your going to have mayhem across the country, that released date was today and well...folks lost their mind..
Via the AJC... "DeKalb police arrested a woman who left two children, ages 2 and 5, in a car while she went inside to buy a pair of the $180 Nike Air Jordan “Concords.”
Now leaving your kids in the car for J's isn't maybe the smartest thing but we ask how long were you there, maybe those kids were sleep by the time you could get in the line.
We love the kicks and would love to have them but at the rate that some are going to obtain a pair is just insane to say the least.
As Dad told me in 1996.... "Son you don't have to have them today, trust me they will come out again". Oh he was right but they are even more insane measures that you have to go through to get them and they are going for $200 (were rounding up) which is more than what they went for in 1996.

How do you think Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, and Al-Farouq Aminu feel about getting traded?

I came across this picture the other day while reading the All Ball Blog from NBA.com. It was a blog by Zettler Clay titled "Pictures don't lie...right?" In the blog he had the picture to the left of Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, and Al-Farouq Aminu - the three main pieces the New Orleans Hornets got in return from the Los Angeles Clippers for Chris Paul. Now, if the whole "Pictures speak 1,000 words" thing is true, then Gordon, Kaman, and Aminu are definitely not to happy that they got traded. Although I have never personally been to New Orleans, I hear it is an awesome town, but I kind of have to side with the three on this one. I don't think that too many people would want to leave the spotlight that is Los Angeles, playing with one of, if not the best, young talents in the game in Blake Griffin. Who knows, maybe New Orleans will surprise some people this year, but having to leave L.A., Gordon, Kaman, and Aminu definitely got the short end of the stick on this trade. If you don't believe me, just take another look at that picture.

Survey Says...Chris Paul

Ok from Ray Combs doing his little backwards dance at the end the show to Steve Harvey having a contestant answer being "a Joint" to "Something You Pass Around" 'Family Feud' is just one of those game shows that no matter how the times change it will always be watched or played by those on Facebook day in and day out.
Really your walking a mall and somebody ask you what did you use to cook Thanksgiving dinner and you say Turkey, more than likely it's the "number one answer", does 'Family Feud' enter into your mind, probably not until your sitting around on family night or bored in the dorm and it happens to be on and you are there to see who gets to 300 points first and guessing right along with them.

Well your human as is Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets. Dave Walker of The Times-Picayune has the scoop on just how human CP3 is and his family made the cut and will appear on 'Family Feud'
...Chris Paul and his family will play "Family Feud" next week to benefit Paul's CP3 Foundation. The episode is scheduled to air at 3 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 1) on WGNO.
According to a news release, the Paul team applied and auditioned for the show, hosted by Steve Harvey, just as any family can. (The show's contestant hotline: 323.762.8467.)
Family members participating in the game show will be Chris, brother C.J., dad Charles, mom Robin and aunt Rhonda.
The opposing team will be the O'Haras from Revere, Mass. They'll play for $100,000 and a car.
Wait you mean Paul just didn't call the show and say 'hey I wanna be on" and got it granted to him like that. Nope had to call like all of the other families and make the cut. Maybe during this lockout we'll continue to realize how human many of our stars are.
Of course you'll have to check your local listings but it should be fun to see CP3 and family try to win the game, after all it's a real life family game night right?
You just know Harvey is going to find some kind of humor with Paul at some point, let's just hope he size CP3 up about the lockout.

There may not be the glitz and glam of the NBA right now but good hoop is always somewhere to be found.

Jordan Still Rises Above The Rim

Only Michael Jordan can continue to prove his doubters wrong and answer questions without words but actions. Yes his Air Airness is continuing to fly even if not often but when he does, it's still looks sooo graceful.
48 years old and oh what 8/9 years removed from the league and Jordan is still flying. He's been known to lace it up in team practices also.
When asked by a camper at the Bobcats fantasy camp this week if he could still dunk, Jordan answered later in the day the only way he cold, by dunking. Now it was later in the afternoon when the dunk was performed so we don't know how much time he needed to warm up for the dunk but hey he dunked it and looked good doing it.
Yea it's Jordan and it's still fun to see him fly when he does.

DWade On Playing Across the Pond

And so we continue with the talk of possible player movement across the pond we couldn't help but to think about Dwayne Wades comments, from the AP....
"If there’s an opportunity there, I’d consider it,” Wade said.
Would he, Lebron and Bosh get together and attempt to win the Euroleague?

More Inquire Into Overseas Hoops

Fans don't look at it as NBA Players are turning their backs on you, because they are not. As the news came down of Deron Williams coming to an agreement to lace up in Turkey, it was just the beginning of what could be a domino effect. Professional basketball players are out of work in the United States so therefore they are in a position where they may need to look elsewhere to continue working in their profession. It's easy to say that they have more than enough money or make too much money but the facts are they will be missing checks despite having contracts in place. Those contracts currently are not being honored so therefore there is no income, unemployed to break it down. The catch, well you risk that contract being voided if your playing somewhere else and sustain and injury. At the end of the day players want to compete hands down and until the business of the labor issues is resolved you've got to do something other than just sitting around and running to meeting after meeting.
Roger Mason Jr. of the New York Knicks and a vice president of the players union is well aware of what is currently going down and why he'll make sure to pack two cell phone chargers with him going forward. He told Newsday
"I can see anybody doing it," said Mason Jr. said. "This is what people have to understand. It's definitely about earning a living, but we've already been so blessed, a lot of guys love the game and want to be able to compete . . . I've talked to a lot of the star players, Chris Paul, Amar'e, Melo, I think that those guys are open-minded to everything."

Unlike the other major professional sport in the midst of an work stoppage in the United States, there are other paid options out there, maybe not in the same tax bracket but nonetheless paid options.
Remember that kid in high school that could leap out of the gym, nail the fadeaway jumper and defend like a hawk only to not be recruited by a major college, settled for a smaller college and next thing you know you only see him 3 or 4 months out of the year because he's earning a living overseas doing what he loves to do and getting a check for it? Yea that guy. Well now that guy is going to be sought after for how it really works across the pond. Roger Mason Jr is one of those guys that has experience across the pond and with his position as a VP he's getting the calls on everything from rules and regulations to insurance. The key component has to be insurance for any player so as to protect their current contract with their NBA team "in-case-ish" happens, that's what insurance is right?.
How this all will play out and how it will effect the players, the NBA, the owners (who, along with team personnel cannot have any contact with players) and the goal of reaching a deal is still to be determined. However movement of NBA players, especially marquee players, seeking other options overseas to keep some income coming in is something that cannot just be taken "with a grain of salt" now.
Just understand these guys don't like being unemployed just as much as the 10 or so percent of Americans that are and when your in a field that doesn't have that long of a lifespan to begin with, it may make it just that much more important.

First Deron Williams, Next Will It Be Kobe Bryant?

Remember the name of the Turkisk team Allen Iverson signed with last year....can't pull it up or pronounce it? Well it's Besiktas. Well they are at it again as Deron Williams of the New Jersey Nets agreed to take his game overseas during the lockout for $200k a month plus other goodies.
Besiktas isn't stopping there. Can you imagine Deron Williams driving the lane and dishing it out to Kobe as a teammate in something other than an All-Star game or Olympic competition? Ergin Ataman the head boss bench for Besiktas can and he's going to try and pull it off.

Ergin Ataman told Yahoo! Sports...
“After we signed Deron, we started to look around and find a friend of his, find other NBA stars, who want to come over and play with us. If Kobe wants to play with Deron in Istanbul, we can discuss this.”
“We cannot give him the same money as he gets from the NBA, but if the money isn’t everything in this, and Kobe wants to play during the lockout, wants to play with Deron Williams, we can find some deal on the money,”
Sounds like to us Besiktas is going to have all of our sleep patterns off if this goes down if we can find a network to air the games. The domino effect is very close to being in effect. As for the loot....Kobe has almost $25M on the table for next season in Hollywood.

Still think it's a long shot? Remember Kobe got ribbed pretty good for the endorsement deal he signed with Turkish Airlines...we didn't forget that.
Michael Beasley Possession of Mary Jane, Legal Issue Only

Going 84 mph in a 65 mph zone is going to bring out the blue lights. Last week that's what happen to Michael Beasley, and oh he had 16.2 grams of marijuana in the car (were not surprised). Slap on the wrist fine in Minnesota for Beasley. So now what about his status in the NBA. The Wolves and David Stern surely will drop the hammer as this isn't Beasley's first time with this issue.

No need to scratch your head and worry about it Mike, it's a lockout and therefore it's strictly a legal issue ($128 fine to be exact).
Tim Frank, a league spokesman, said in email as reported by Ira Winderman
"The anti-drug agreement-including testing and penalties-is not in effect during the lockout"
Well looks like this issue can be put to rest.

Right Jab Left Jab From Andrew Bynum

So you have to do something to stay in shape our it's going to be very tough to get back in shape when the master lock is taken off the team facilities.
Andrew Bynum has dipped into the Kendall Gill book and is using boxing to stay in shape. Maybe he's continuing to let off steam from that sweep and this way he can't get fined or suspended.

Just be easy on those knees.

Oops!

Yes the Mavs are the champions...just DeShawn Stevenson got hit with public intoxication in the wake of all the celebration. This is a "shot" he will never forget. Arrested NBA Champion, yea we'll have to remember that also.

If you've been anywhere near a college campus you know what this is.
**He's a Champion that is a human folks, Yep sure is.**
